Many parents have trouble deciding on the perfect baby girl name or baby boy name for their soon-to-arrive bundle of joy. Sometimes, even after hours of research, discussion and even arguing they still can’t agree on the moniker.

One suggestion is to have friends and family help out. Normally, this means calling around and getting everyone’s opinion on what sounds good and what doesn’t, but there’s a much more fun way of fulfilling this ancient practice. Gather everyone together for a baby naming shower. Instead of guests bringing traditional baby shower gifts, have them bring lists of names that they like. They will essentially be “showering” the parents with ideas and suggestions, and it will all take place in a party setting, so as to ease any disagreements. Talking things out in a larger group will also help the couple to reach a compromise and ensure that the little one will have a name by the time he or she arrives.
